Joey Scala, LMT
Joey began to learn about energy, meditation, and qi gong while studying martial arts as a teenager. This changed his outlook on life as he began to see how our bodies, minds, and spirits are all one and connected to the universe. His love for massage and yoga began in 2010 after exploring Thailand for nearly 2 years. His passion for yoga grew while living in Portland and eventually led to his enrollment in massage school at East West College of the Healing Arts.
While studying at East West College, after building a foundation in Swedish and deep tissue techniques, He began to study tui na, structural integration, and neuromuscular therapy. Since then, he developed his own style by integrating these techniques and has been using them to work with clients suffering from chronic pain and injuries alongside doctors, chiropractors, and physical therapists. He is passionate about continuing to grow as a LMT and he travels back to Portland when he can to learn from his previous instructors.
He has been working with cannabis for over 6 years and enjoys learning about the medicinal benefits of topicals while integrating them into his practice. Currently he has also been focusing on neuromuscular work and seeing the wonderful results in helping clients with pain relief.
